TCCI was initially established as "The Trivandrum Merchants' Chamber" on October 13, 1951, under the Travancore Companies Act VII of 1913. In 1958, it was renamed "The Chamber of Commerce Trivandrum" and has since operated under The Kerala Non-Trading Companies Act of 1961. The organization adopted its present name, "The Trivandrum Chamber of Commerce and Industry," at its Annual General Body Meeting on October 20, 2010.
